Happy Wine Wednesday everyone! This week is something different, instead of talking about a particular wine or winery I am going to tell you about a TV show – The Wine Show!

This show was such a great find for my husband and I, so good that we purchased Hulu just to be able to watch it- and it has been well worth it!
The basis of this show is to learn about wine – in a non-stuffy relaxed (aka your couch) environment. This show isn’t meant to replace a wine education course, it is purely for entertainment but it is wonderful.
There are currently two seasons of the show available, the first taking place in Italy and the second in France. The charm of this show, besides just the wine is learning about the wine regions and seeing how wine is incorporated into so many various facets of culture as well. The show features two actors with wine experts and chefs. The goal of each season is to fill a wine box from the country they are in, with each wine representing different attributes that together embody the spirit of the country.
In the first season we have the Matthews, Matthew Goode (The Crown) and Matthew Rhys (The Americans) who together are just so funny. They have such a natural chemistry when they are together on this journey to learn more about wine. Together with wine experts Joe Fattorini and Amelia Singer.

And in the second season, Joe, Amelia and Matthew Goode are all back, and this time with actor James Purefoy (The Following). At first I was upset Matthew Rhys would not be back, due to filming another project at the time; but I have to say Matthew Goode and James Purefoy together were great. Also, we do see Matthew Rhys a few times during the season.

Now back to the actual show! I did say the seasons take place in Italy and France – but, you get to experience through the wine experts on the show many wines from around the entire world. You get to visit over 11 countries and various wineries including Chile, Argentina, South Africa, America, New Zealand, Greece, Germany and so on.
You also get to see renowned chefs pair foods and wines as well as learning about great wine gadgets to purchase.
This show is truly educational entertainment. I love how you get to see these beautiful landscapes and visit regions of the world where you may have never realized wine was even produced. All while learning about wine, wine making, food pairing and so much more.
I highly recommend the wine show to anyone who is interested in learning more about wine with an entertainment elements and not a classroom setting. I feel like this show gave me a good background of things I can expand on in future wine classes.
My wine recommendation for this week comes directly from the show – I am recommending Vignamaggio – Terre di Prenzano Chianti Classico 2015.
Cheers!
