I apologize for the super close up above.. but it definitely shows you the difference in my brows ha!
Recently I have been obsessing about my eyebrows. And by obsessing, I mean wanting to find a way to make them better, cut back on the amount of time I spend filling them in all while not jumping into microblading. I think microblading looks great, I am just not ready to make the leap into it just yet. If you do not know microblading is a semi-permanent cosmetic tattooing of the eyebrows, usually lasting 1-2 years and the average cost is around $500 from what I have read.
Eyebrow tinting lasts about 4-6 weeks and is fairly inexpensive in my opinion – it is an additional $17 when I am getting my eyebrows waxed, tweezed and shaped. Eyebrow tinting simply semi-permanently dyes the eyebrow hair, while also tinting a portion of the skin. This helps to make your eyebrow shape underneath stand out without filling them in and helps the eyebrow hairs to appear darker and more full.
I honestly did not realize just how light/ blonde my eyebrow hair was before I did this!
Tinting my brows showed ALL of the hair I had been missing while doing my own tweezing, but it also showed patches where I need to work on re-growing some areas since the hair was now darker and showed open areas easier, probably from my bad at home brow jobs – OOPS!
I had my eyebrows first tinted last month when I visited Arch my local brow bar. I have been here before for my eyebrows but have not been in about two years. So, I made an initial appointment for brows waxing and styling plus tinting with a master browista as if it was my first time and not just a maintenance appointment since it had been so long since I had been.
I was super nervous mainly because I had a wedding the next day and what if I hated it?
Spoiler Alert: I LOVED IT!
My browista first tinted my brows by simply putting the tint on and working on shaping them and letting it sit a few minutes. Then she went to work waxing, cutting, tweezing and styling these bad boys. The end result was nothing short of amazing! I know this might sound funny, but I have significantly cut off time from my getting ready process by doing this. Now, I am still working on growing my brows in correctly, so I do still need to fill in them a little bit, on one side I need to do an inner most part and on the other brow I need to fill in the tail. But, my browista said if I do everything she tells me to get them to grow in how we want them I most likely will need to do barely any filling in!
There is really no glamourous way to show you super close up pictures of my face, but here it goes!
Before not filled in: Before filled in by me:
After No Makeup or Fill: After Filled in by Browista:
To me, the most significant change you can see is from my unfilled in before and after brows. I can spend a significant amount of time in the mornings filling in my brows and get them to look how I want them, but without a good foundation it not only takes longer, but there is only so much I can do with the shape etc. I love that the browista spent the time talking to me about the shape and look I was trying to achieve. She also gave me tips on filling them in.
Although I still now have to fill my brows in a bit, it is very minimal compared to what I use to do and when I wake up in the mornings/ take my makeup off at night I have brows that are shaped great!
I am definitely going to continue tinting my brows monthly and as I grow them in I will do an update in a few months to show you all!
Have you ever had your brows tinted or are you now interested in doing so? Let me know!
xo Kait.
