We Are Officially In The Holiday Season!
Thanksgiving is just a few days away and it is to me the real kick off of the holiday season! Deciding what to wear to your family and friends gatherings can be very important!
From staying home and cozy with family and friends, to gatherings at restaurants and fancier settings – there is an outfit for everything! I hope you enjoy this Thanksgiving Outfit Guide and find some inspiration from it.
Cozy Casual:
There is nothing I love more than being comfy and cozy during the holidays, especially thanksgiving when it seems like all we do is eat! Here are some cozy casual separates and outfit ideas I am loving.
Who doesn’t want to be able to wear leggings all the time, but during the holidays I don’t want to look like I stopped by my families houses on my way to the gym. These Spanx Faux Leather Leggings are comfy, but add a dressy edge to your outfit.
Also, what is more fabulous than a pair of faux leather leggings?! Add a cute top or trendy sweater and any type of shoe you’re comfortable in and you are set.
Also, they’re made by Spanx so obviously you know they’re going to be slimming.
If you have never tried on a Ponte pant before my advice is to do so as soon as possible. My first introduction to them was when I worked for J.Crew and I haven’t stopped wearing them. A Ponte pant is a heavier material legging and look more like a dress pant, but super comfy.
Wit & Wisdom Ab-Solution Ponte pant in this burgundy color are great for holiday gatherings when you want to stay comfortable, but still look dressed.
These pants come in multiple colors, but I just love when I can find a great pair of pants in something other than just black. Also, the fake zippers are a great detail.
Are you someone who is comfortable in jeans and looking to stick to the classic bottom choice for the Holidays? Try a pair of jeans with a good amount of stretch in them. Like these Liverpool Jeans in the style Abby with 4 way stretch; because we all know the food is one of the best parts of holiday celebrations!
Jeans to me are the most versatile bottoms someone can wear. You can literally wear ANY top and shoe with them.
Have fun with your jeans and play around with different ways of styling with them.
Here’s a simple jean outfit I put together that would work perfect for Thanksgiving:
This outfit features my favorite Express jeans, a Free People thermal, Old Navy puffer vest, Target booties & Amazon scarf! So easy, affordable and comfortable.
Wearing a poncho is a great way to stay cozy and comfy, but still look extremely put together. It’s basically like walking around in a fancy blanket all day that you don’t trip over… possibly speaking from experience here.
This BP poncho is perfectly neutral and can be paired with various types of other pieces you already have in your closet.
Another great neutral option is this Buffalo Check sweater from Banana Republic. This soft fitted crew neck sweater will keep you warm all day without being just a plain sweater.
You can simply throw this on without having to worry about accessorizing too much due to the pattern of the this top. If you wanted though, put on a leather jacket or a scarf for a pop of color and you’re set!
Can you tell I am a big fan of anything plaid and checkered. I bought this wrap vest from Amazon and I can not stop wearing it.
This wrap is perfect, it is warm but not too heavy. Pairs with any top you already have in your closet from plain tee’s to sweaters.
The colors in this are PERFECT for fall with brown booties!
Holiday Chic:
A lot of people enjoy getting a little more dressed up during the holidays and wearing special items from their closets. A lot of times these pieces may be things you wouldn’t wear as your regular day to day items, but they can be incorporated into your daily outfits. Here are a few ideas I have found for special looks that are still comfortable, but perfect for your holiday gatherings.
Looking for something a little dressier, but still light, comfy and stretchy – definitely give these Paperbag pants a try from The Retail Therapist.
The wide leg is so flattering and so is the paperbag top. I find together these pants go with a variety of different tops and shoes which is always great.
Also, who doesn’t love a super cute bow tied top detailing?
How about an adorable plaid neutral skirt? This skirt from Goodnight Macaroon is perfect for any holiday occasion you may be celebrating!
Add a dressy top, over the knee boots and some sparkly jewelry and you have the perfect festive outfit!
Vici Collections So in love Sweater Dress is a dream come true for the holidays. Whenever I wear a dress I automatically feel fancier, but this sweater dress is so cozy and perfect for Thanksgiving!
I love how this is paired with other the knee boots and a scarf in this photo. It gives me all the Fall feels!
H&M‘s off the shoulder sweater available in four colors is a must this season. I have the charcoal grey one and have worn is multiple times already!
This sweater is so warm and cozy, but the off the shoulder detailing is sexy without being too revealing – a great quality!
Another seriously awesome sweater find this season from H&M is this pearl studded sweater. Simple, classic and very chic. The beaded detailing adds to the sweater without being over the top.
I can picture this with a skirt or black pants and a great pair of booties for a simple, but dressy look.
This J.Crew lace top with built in cami is a great Thanksgiving day option. I love the delicate detailing of the lace and that it is long sleeved, but a lightweight top. Although I live in the Northeast a lot of times it is hot on Thanksgiving with all the cooking that is going on!
